| The Eastbourne Festival Community Interest Company was established in March 2008 to organise, promote and administer the annual Eastbourne Festival.
The Eastbourne Festival CIC aims to promote excellence in the arts,
encourage diversity and imaginative interaction across art forms and
contribute to cultural enrichment in Eastbourne. It will support and
encourage the development of a broad programme of traditional,
contemporary and experimental visual arts, music, literature, dance,
comedy, film and performance events, aiming to challenge existing
perceptions of Eastbourne and promote discussion and debate among both artists and audiences. The Eastbourne Festival will provide a platform for local artists and performers to showcase their work and interact with others. In the long term the Eastbourne Festival CIC aspires to run a Festival which will attract the participation of regional,
national and international artists, performers and entertainers, drawing both local audiences and visitors to the town and stimulating
creative and professional development among local participants.
Throughout the Eastbourne Festival, the CIC will seek to encourage
celebration of Eastbourne’s unique history, location, character and
cultural mix.
The Eastbourne Festival will be an annual event covering just over two
weeks from Easter Saturday each year to include three weekends. The
initial aim is to build upon the achievements and successes of the 2008 Festival, encouraging a greater variety of events and the inclusion of a wide balance of art forms.
In order to provide necessary financial resources sponsorship is
being sought from local, regional and national organisations and
agencies. A Friends scheme will be established. Assistance from
volunteers will strengthen the foundations of the Festival and help it
to grow and flourish.
It is hoped that everyone who participated in the Festival in any
way will have found it enjoyable and successful and will wish to
participate again in the future. Many thanks!
